Some ideas I tend to share

There are a variety of things that I have overheard my own children say to others with the conviction that only comes from having heard their mother say them over and over again. Of course these are just my opinions but I have found them to be helpful to me at the very least.

"If you really hate doing something, do it really well the first time so you won't have to do it again and again."

"If someone can make you angry they can control you."

"When something doesn't go your way, more often than not there is a reason. No matter your belief in the great cosmic circle, there generally is a reason for why something didn't work out the way you planned and a blessing in disguise." Note: Sometimes that lesson is that you really screwed up the first time and you should re-think your approach.

"If you expect something from someone, you have to tell them what you expect. If you need something from someone, you have to tell them what you need. It is not fair to expect others to read your mind. This is especially true when you don't think you should have to tell them. If then they choose to not help or provide what you need or they tell you why they can't meet that need, let that decision be theirs and move on. It is not worth the sacrifice of a long term relationship to get caught up in un-spoken, un-met expectations."
