Chinese Take-out

The eldest of the tribe spent all day on Saturday at a Jazz festival. He returned in a flourish of rumpled dress clothes and a bag of Chinese food leftover boxes. My first thought of course was that they must have ordered an amazing amount of food to actually have leftovers.

I later learned that ordering an entire duck will in fact fill up a 16 year old (almost).

At 11:30 Sunday morning the kid came upstairs in a bit of a hurry. "Mom, make sure no one eats my Chinese food!" was his only comment before he stumbled back down to bed and slept for another 2 hours.

It is an interesting juncture in parenting when your child actually gets out of bed because he is concerned enough that his food might be eaten. In the late afternoon he finally woke again and without stopping to catch his breath, consumed all of the leftovers so that no one else in the house might encroach on his bounty.
